Women's Harrington Leather Jackets

The Harrington is the one worth knowing about

Five of the jackets here finish above the hip rather than on it. That sounds like a small change and it isn't. A Harrington ends where a high-waisted trouser or skirt begins, so nothing gets cut in half and your leg line stays long. On a longer body it's the difference between a jacket that works and one that sits awkwardly.

The full-length versions do the opposite job. They cover the hip, sit close at the waist and read a little more traditional. Worth deciding which you want before you pick a colour, because it changes what the jacket goes with more than the colour does.

What makes it a Harrington

A soft shirt collar instead of lapels, a zip that runs straight to the neck, and a short body. Depending on the piece the cuffs are snap-adjusted, zip-adjusted or left open. All of it in 100% real lambskin, lined in soft polyester. No faux, no PU, nothing coated. Lambskin gives where you move and keeps its shape everywhere else, and a good one will still look right in five years.

Black, cognac, and a few others

Black is most of this collection and there's a reason for that. It's the version that goes with everything and gets worn until it looks lived in. Cognac is the alternative, and it's the more interesting buy if you already own something black. The wax finishes lift at the seams and cuffs over the first couple of years, so no two end up looking the same. Beyond those two, the Harrington runs in burgundy, washed black and purple.

How it sits against the other shapes

The collar is what separates it. A biker jacket has lapels and a belt and reads much harder. A trucker shares the shirt collar but buttons up and sits boxier. A bomber has no collar and a thick ribbed hem. Against a leather blazer, the Harrington is more casual and much less structured through the shoulder.

If you want it short but with a different collar, the cropped range has other shapes at the same length.

Fit and care

Go by chest measurement against the size guide, not the size on your usual label. One size up is enough if you'll wear a jumper underneath. Returns are free for 30 days, so order the size you measure into first.
