Saw this on Instagram and went for it half expecting to send it back. Didn't. The nap on the fabric is proper, none of that flat plasticky look I was bracing for. My brother asked where it was from before I'd even got my arms out of it. It's light so this is more of an autumn and spring thing than a January coat, but that suits me. Also no chemical smell out of the bag, which was the thing I was most worried about ordering online.
Ages spent scrolling and comparing and I ended up here mostly because of the price. It has turned out to be the best clothing decision I have made this year. The cafe racer shape is clean and the centre zip sits flat, so it looks tidy done up or open. The surface is soft with a short even nap and no shine to it. I have worn it three or four times a week since March. The one I had been looking at in a department store was nearly three times the money and no better cut.
Right, so I have owned three black jackets in my life and this is comfortably the best of them, which is not something I expected at this price. The colour is a deep even black with a fine soft nap and a matte finish that does not shine under any lighting. It is remarkably light, so much so that I checked the box again to make sure I had the right thing. The asymmetric zip runs smoothly and the front sits flat rather than pulling. There was no wearing-in period, it was comfortable from the first evening. It has been out in light rain twice and dried without a mark on it. Care has amounted to a brush across the shoulders once a fortnight. My sister asked whether it was the designer one she had been saving for, which is well over twice the price. It has replaced a jacket I had worn for six years out of habit rather than affection. I have not stopped wearing it since it arrived and I would order another tomorrow.
Half the price of anything comparable I found and it does not feel like a compromise. The matte black has depth and the nap is soft and even. It has been my default jacket for two months.
Early on there was a mark across the back where it had been folded for shipping, and I will admit I sighed. A brush and a night on a hanger and it was gone completely. Since then it has been faultless. The black is deep and matte, the zips run cleanly and the whole thing is far lighter than it looks. I paid well under what I had allowed and it has been in constant use.
Zip was a touch stiff for the first few days and then loosened right up, which seems to be normal. Everything else about it has been excellent, the black is deep and the surface is properly matte. I paid around half of what I had set aside for a jacket like this.
Gone through three cheap jackets in as many years, which is why I finally spent a bit more thought if not much more money on this one. It has been a different experience entirely. The black is properly deep and the matte nap has not worn shiny at the elbows despite constant use. It is light on the shoulders, so I can wear it on the bus without cooking. The zip runs cleanly every time and the collar sits flat. I have had it out in drizzle twice and it dried without any marks left behind. There is no special treatment involved, which suits someone who will never do it anyway. Nobody at work believes what I paid for it. It has replaced two jackets outright. I would order the same again if this one ever gives up.
Once it arrived the debate was over. The matte black is deeper than on screen, the surface is soft and it weighs almost nothing. I had budgeted twice this and would have paid it.
Needed something for evenings out and this has done the job perfectly, with one small caveat. The colour is deeper than the photos, so if you are expecting a soft charcoal you will get a proper black. That suited me. The surface is soft with a fine nap and the zip runs cleanly. It cost around half of what I had budgeted and has been out most weekends since.
Different from what I expected in a good way, because the photos make it look heavier than it is. It is light enough to wear indoors and still cuts the wind outside. The black has a soft matte surface with a fine nap and there is no shine anywhere. It has needed nothing but a brush across the shoulders once in a while. Compared with the designer one I had bookmarked for a year this was a third of the money.
Placed the order on a whim after a bad week and it turned out to be the best thing I did that month. The black is properly deep with a soft even nap. It has no bulk to it at all, so I can drive in it, which rules out most of my other jackets. There has been no breaking-in period and nothing to look after. What I saved against the high street version paid for a weekend away.
Cold walks to the station were the reason I wanted something with a bit of structure to it. This has been warm without any bulk at all, which is a combination I had not managed to find before. The black looks smart enough for work and sharp enough for the evening. There is no breaking-in, it was comfortable straight away. A friend guessed I had spent triple.
Partner ordered one first and I spent a fortnight quietly borrowing it before ordering my own. The cafe racer shape is clean and the centre zip sits perfectly flat. The surface is soft with a short matte nap and no shine at all. It is warm without bulk, which makes it usable indoors and out. Between us we paid less than one designer jacket would have cost.
