Office dress code here is vague enough to be a nightmare and this has settled it for me. It reads smart without looking like I am off to a wedding. The colour is a warm light brown with a soft matte surface and no shine. It is light enough to keep on all day in a warm room. I had budgeted twice what it came to.
Wedding season and a wardrobe of nothing suitable is what pushed me into buying this, and it turned out to be a much better decision than a rushed suit would have been. The light brown has a warm depth to it that reads well in photographs, which I had not thought about beforehand. The lapels sit flat and the two-button front closes neatly without pulling. It is soft under the hand with a fine even nap and a matte finish. It is far lighter than it looks, which matters when you are wearing it all day. There was no breaking-in period at all. It has needed nothing more than a brush across the shoulders. Two people at the reception asked where it was from. The designer one I had been looking at was well over three times the price. It has since been worn to work more often than to anything formal, which makes it the best value thing in my wardrobe.
Interviews were the reason I bought it and it has done the job, though it is not quite as sharp as I had hoped from the photos. The colour and the softness are both good and the lapels sit well enough. For what it cost I think it is fair and I have kept wearing it.
Client meetings and the occasional dinner are what this gets used for. The colour is deeper than the listing photos suggested, which took me a day to get used to and then I preferred it. The lapels sit flat, the buttons close cleanly and the surface is soft with a matte finish. It is light enough to wear all day without noticing. What I paid was well under half of the designer one I had been comparing it with.
Presentation days used to mean digging out a suit jacket that never quite matched anything. This has replaced that entirely. The light brown is warm and even and the two-button front sits cleanly. It is soft to the touch and light enough to keep on for a full day of talking. I spent about a third of what the designer one was asking.
Sharp without being stiff, which is what I had been hunting for. The lapels roll properly, the colour is warm and the whole thing weighs very little. It cost me half of what I had put aside.
Smart enough for a client meeting and relaxed enough for dinner afterwards, which is a narrow gap to fill. The two-button front closes cleanly and the lapels roll properly rather than sticking out. The surface is soft with a fine matte nap and the colour has real warmth in daylight. It is light on the shoulders, so I can wear it through a long day without noticing. What I paid was a third of the designer one I had been circling for months.
Wanted something smart that was not a suit jacket and this has been exactly that. The light brown has a warm depth to it and the notch lapels sit flat without any pressing. I paid less than half of what the department store wanted for something stiffer.
Lapels are the thing that usually gives a cheap jacket away and these sit perfectly flat. The light brown has warmth and depth to it and the surface is soft and matte. For half of what I had set aside I am very content.
Formal wear has been the hardest thing to replace since I stopped buying animal materials, and this is the first blazer I have found that looks properly grown-up. The lapels are well shaped and the two-button front closes neatly. The colour has depth and the nap is fine and even rather than fuzzy. I wore it to a work dinner and nobody looked twice, which is the point. It cost a good deal less than I had feared.
Suit jackets have never worked for me on their own and this fills that gap neatly. The notch lapels are well shaped and the front closes without pulling at the button. The colour is a warm light brown that goes with grey and navy alike. There is nothing to condition and no breaking-in to endure. Compared with the department store version at more than twice the price I feel like I got the better end of it.
