Retro shapes usually come with retro weight, and they end up staying on the hook. Vera keeps the look in lightweight faux suede that stays soft and easy on the shoulders. Black gives it a clean, modern edge, so it works over a hoodie or over a dress with equal ease.

biggest question before buying was whether faux suede would look cheap up close. answer: no, not even slightly. ive had it about three weeks and been stopped twice at work by people asking if its new and where i got it. the black is rich and even all over, no blotchy patches, and the fabric has that soft brushed feel that makes you want to stroke your own sleeve (sorry, but true). second worry was warmth, i run cold. its not a winter coat obviously but with a jumper underneath its been fine for the walk from the station. snaps are strong enough that they dont pop open when i bend down, and the striped collar gives it a bit of personality so it doesnt look like every other black bomber on the high street. no time to write more, just get it
honestly dont have loads of time so this'll be one long ramble but basically I needed a jacket that works for the school run and then a client meeting and then collecting the kids again without looking like ive been dragged through a hedge, and this does all of it, the retro cut is smart without being stuffy, the black matches literally every pair of trousers I own, the ribbed bits at the neck and wrists keep the cold out when im stood at the gate, and its light so it doesnt crush my shoulders when im also carrying three book bags and a PE kit, my eldest says it makes me look less like a mum which im choosing to take as a compliment, the inside pocket is where my car keys live now and ive not lost them once this month which is a record tbh
Needed a light layer for travel after donating my old puffer. Ordered it on a Sunday night; it took about ten days to arrive, slower than I'd hoped. Once here, no complaints: the black is crisp, the snaps line up neatly, the ribbed collar sits flat. It's become my grab-and-go piece for errands and flights.
Best birthday present I've given my wife in years. Reasons: it's light enough for Texas fall, the black goes with every outfit she owns, and those knit cuffs mean the sleeves never slide over her hands. She wears it to brunch, to the farmers market and on our evening dog walks, and strangers have asked about it twice.
Never before had I picked out a jacket like this for anyone, so I was nervous handing it to my girlfriend before our drive up to Napa. It got tested right away: cool morning, warm afternoon, chilly dinner on a patio. She had it snapped shut at breakfast, open by lunch, and by nightfall the collar was turned up against the breeze. Light enough to stuff in her tote between stops. Zero complaints.
ive never owned anything like this before, my wardrobe was basically fleeces and one sad denim thing from uni. wanted something a bit more grown up for autumn but nothing heavy. ordered on a tuesday, it came the following week in a neat little parcel, no drama. the poppers are firm, proper satisfying click, and the cuffs hug your wrists so no draughts get up your sleeves. colour is a true jet black. honestly cant believe i waited this long, its gone with everything ive tried so far
After a month with my first jacket like this, here's how it actually fits into my week. Mornings in Denver can start near freezing, so I snap it right up and tuck a thin merino layer underneath; by noon it's unsnapped and flapping open. Left outer pocket: phone. Right: keys and a hair tie. The interior pocket holds my work badge, which saves rummaging. It folds flat into a carry-on, so it came with me to Chicago last weekend and handled the wind off the lake surprisingly well. Light rain beads up for a minute before I can duck inside, though I wouldn't stand in a downpour in it. A soft brush once a week keeps the surface looking fresh. Overall, a genuinely useful piece.
Would a bomber actually work for someone who isn't sporty? That was my hesitation. Turns out yes. The shape is relaxed, the matte black reads polished, and I wear it with everything from leggings to a midi skirt. Two outer pockets fit my phone and keys easily. I just reach for it every day now without thinking.
Brilliant little bomber, and I say that as someone who rolls her eyes at most TikTok ads. Three things won me over. First, the snap front lets me wear it open or closed without a zip pull digging in. Second, the striped rib trim at the neck looks properly vintage, like something from a seventies sports team. Third, it weighs next to nothing, so it lives on the back of my chair at work. Weekends it goes on for coffee with friends and long walks along the canal.
Replaced a tired denim jacket I'd had since my twenties that had gone baggy at the elbows. This holds its shape far better, thanks to the elasticated knit hem and cuffs. Wore it to the dentist this morning (tooth fine, thanks for asking), then on to work. Black looks smarter than faded blue ever did. Quick win.
tip for anyone eyeing this but unsure: dont be scared of the retro vibe. i was, its my first jacket like this and i thought it might look too costume-y. pair it with straight jeans and white sneakers and it just looks cool and easy. for dinner i throw it over a black slip dress and it gives the outfit some attitude. care wise, keep a little brush handy, a couple strokes and the nap stands back up. also go black, the color is so versatile ur gonna wear it nonstop
only gripe and its a small one, the press studs were really stiff for the first few days, had to use both hands to pop them open. theyve loosened up now. everything else is spot on tho. the shape is properly 70s with that ribbed hem and collar, the black is nice and deep, and its so light i can chuck it in my work bag if the sun comes out. inside pocket fits my phone. knocked one off for the studs but tbh id still pick it again
Her roommate tried it on before my girlfriend did, which tells you something. When she finally got it back, she wore it to a rooftop party in Brooklyn and came home with three compliments and a new friend who wanted the details. From my side, it looked even better in person than in the pictures, and the striped collar gives it a cool vintage varsity feel.
daughter commutes into Manchester on the train, got this for her birthday. she says phone goes in the left pocket, travel card in the inside one, earbuds on the right. its kept her warm on the platform at 7am and she doesnt overheat on a packed carriage. got caught in light drizzle last week and dried off fine. layers it over a hoodie at weekends. shes happy, so im happy
Six weeks since I ordered it off a Facebook ad, half expecting a flimsy costume piece. Instead it has held up through near-daily wear: the snaps still close crisply, the ribbing hasn't stretched out and the nap looks as even as day one. If I could change one thing, I'd make the collar stripes a touch wider so they show up more in photos. Small wish, though.
Second Decrum piece for me after a longer coat, and this one is much more casual. Starting at the top, the collar is ribbed with two fine stripes that frame the face nicely. Down the front, press studs rather than a zip, which suits the retro mood. The stretchy knit cuffs stay put when I push my sleeves up. Two side pockets plus one tucked inside round it off.
Compared with my old bomber, a shiny nylon thing that rustled every time I moved and went bobbly at the wrists within a season, this is a completely different animal. The microsuede is matte and quiet, with a velvety handle that makes it look far more expensive than it is, and the ribbed trims are thick enough that I doubt they'll go baggy. It's my first jacket like this and I'm a convert. Where the nylon one looked sporty, this reads smart-casual, so I can wear it to the office on Fridays.
Where on earth did you find that?' was the first thing my sister said when I walked into her kitchen on Sunday, and she is not someone who hands out compliments. It's my first jacket of this kind; I've always lived in parkas and knitted cardigans, so a proper bomber felt like a leap. Honestly it was an easy one. The microsuede has a lovely muted sheen, almost charcoal under spotlights and properly inky outdoors. I like that the ribbed neckline has thin stripes running through it, because it gives a vintage sports feel without shouting. The inside pocket is just right for my bank card and house key, so I can leave the handbag at home on short errands. It's now my default for school pickups and Saturday markets.
wore it straight to a gig at the Roundhouse the day it arrived, no time to faff. queue outside was freezing so i had it popped right up to the neck and was actually fine. inside got hot and rammed, tied it round my waist for an hour and when i put it back on there wasnt a single crease. phone in one outer pocket, lip balm and card in the inside one, nothing fell out while jumping about. night bus home, still looked smart. LOVE it
For my daughter. Sophomore year, new city. She wanted a bomber. Black, retro, nothing loud. This was it. Snaps up the front, which she prefers to zippers. Knit wristbands keep wind out. The courier left the parcel with our neighbor, whose beagle barked through the whole handover. Anyway. Soft, light, easy. She wore it to class Monday. Texted me a selfie. Big win.
If you spotted this on Instagram and wonder whether a retro cut looks dated in person: it doesn't. My advice is to style it with something modern, wide-leg trousers or a slip skirt, and the striped collar suddenly feels intentional rather than costume. Black does show the odd bit of fluff, so give it a quick once-over with a soft clothes brush before heading out.
got this for my girlfriend's birthday and the box turned up a day early which never happens round here. she tore the tissue off and went quiet for a second, then said oh thats proper nice. the black is deep, not that washed out grey you sometimes get, and the nap goes slightly darker when you run a hand over it. first outing was saturday drinks in Leeds, she wore it over a white tee and jeans and her mate asked twice where it came from. the striped rib collar is the bit she keeps fiddling with, reckons its her favourite detail. well chuffed with myself NGL
Since about August my wife had been hinting about a black bomber so when I saw this one with the striped ribbing round the neck I thought right, that's it, and it turns out I actually got something correct for once because she's barely taken it off, wearing it to the gym, to her mum's, out for a curry on Friday, and she keeps saying how light it feels next to her winter coat which is a win in my book
Snap buttons instead of a zip is what caught my eye and they feel properly sturdy, not the flimsy kind that pop open. The striped ribbing at the collar gives it a retro feel without looking like a costume. Black keeps it wearable with everything I own. It's light enough that I forget I have it on.
Bought for my girlfriend who had shown me this exact one three times. She loves it and has worn it out every evening since it came. She mentioned the collar detail specifically and how light the whole thing is. Straightforward ordering and quick delivery.
Ordered this on a whim and it's turned into my most worn jacket. The shape is relaxed but not oversized, so it sits well over a jumper or a thin top. Fabric is soft with a matte finish and it hasn't marked at all. Arrived neatly packed and quickly.
This one goes over a hoodie for the school run and over a dress in the evening, which is rare for a single jacket. The ribbed trims hold their shape and nothing has stretched out. Black is deep and even rather than looking washed. Very pleased with it.
Really like this and it gets worn a lot. Four stars because the snap buttons take a firm push to close at first, though they've eased with use. The shape is lovely and it looks good open too. Fabric is soft and the stitching is tidy throughout.
