Layering in spring means carrying something you'll take off by noon. Lightweight faux suede solves that — enough for a cold morning, never too much for the afternoon. Light brown keeps it soft and neutral, which is why it ends up over everything from leggings to a dress.

Is that new? It's such a pretty color. That was my coworker the first morning, before I'd even hung it up. This is my third Decrum purchase; the first two are a black moto and a burgundy cropped piece I save for winter, and this hooded bomber has a completely different, softer personality. The light brown leans honey in daylight and goes almost sandy under office lighting. I appreciate the rib-knit trim at the waist because it keeps the shape gathered rather than boxy. Epaulettes are a nice nod to the bomber tradition. Hood off for dinners, on for the walk from the parking garage. Because it's microsuede, a drizzle or a splashed latte doesn't make me panic.
Bit of a gripe to start: it smelled quite new out of the packet and needed a couple of days airing on the landing before I wore it. That faded completely. Beyond that, I'm thrilled. I've never had a jacket like this before, always puffers, and the switch has been lovely. The fawn colour looks expensive, the epaulettes and ribbed trim give it a sporty-smart look, and it's so light I forget I'm wearing it. I've had compliments at work twice. Wore it to a gig in Leeds on Saturday and stayed comfortable all night.
Best gift I've given my girlfriend in a while. Reasons: the light brown flatters her, it weighs next to nothing, and the detachable hood gives her two looks in one. The metal zipper feels properly sturdy too. She wears it to her pottery class, on weekend hikes and out to dinner with the hood off.
Got this for my daughter who just started college in Vermont and I was fretting the whole time about whether she'd think it was a 'mom pick', but she FaceTimed me the day it arrived wearing it over her pajamas, which I'll take as a yes, and she says the hood is great for the walk to her 8am class when it's misty, plus the little epaulettes make it look less like a basic layer, three girls on her floor have asked about it, meanwhile I'm here at home missing her and the dog keeps sleeping on her bed, anyway the shade is a light toasty brown and a quick brush tidies it up whenever it gets dusty.
Guys, if you're stuck on a gift for your wife or girlfriend, here's my tip: go light brown, not a dark shade. I almost ordered something darker out of habit and I'm glad I didn't. This one is softer, kind of a honey-sand color, and it brightens up her wardrobe, which is otherwise all charcoal and navy. Second tip, take the hood off for date nights; with just the rib-knit neckline it looks a lot dressier. She wears it with the hood on for walks around the reservoir. Speaking of which, the geese are back and they are aggressive this year, we had to detour twice. The YKK zip has a solid metal feel and the epaulettes give it some structure. She has worn it nearly every day since her birthday. Easiest present I've bought in years.
Off on a road trip, are we? teased my husband, and fair enough, we were heading to Asheville to see family. Never owned this style before; denim is usually my go-to. Turns out the pale brown pairs nicely with tan boots, and the ribbed hem stayed put through five hours of sitting. Gas station coffee: awful, avoid the one off exit 27. Once the sun appeared I unclipped the hood and stuffed it into my purse. Completely converted.
Spotted this in a TikTok try-on and figured why not. Daily log so far: mornings in the low fifties, I wear it over a thin turtleneck and I'm fine. Afternoons warm up, so it gets folded into my tote, where it takes up almost no room. Drizzle on Thursday, hood up and cinched, stayed dry enough. Weekend: thrown over a sundress for brunch. The tan shade has gone with everything so far.
six weeks in and im still reaching for this one more than my other two decrum jackets, which kinda surprised me. whats held up: the color hasnt faded at all, still that light caramel, and the nap looks as even as day one even though ive been tossing it on car seats and kitchen chairs. YKK zip still runs smooth, no snags. the rib knit at the waist and wrists hasnt gone baggy either which was my worry with my old bombers. if i could tweak ONE thing id give the hood longer drawstrings, they disappear into the channel if you pull too hard. next to my black biker its way more laid back, i wear this one for errands and the biker for nights out. love it tho
A tip for anyone hesitating over this shade: light brown looks far more versatile in person than on screen. I'd been worried it would clash with my black work trousers, and it doesn't, it actually softens them. It also pairs nicely with olive and cream. If you mostly wear dark colours, this lifts the whole outfit. Give it a quick once-over with a soft brush after rainy days and it stays neat.
Mom's seventieth. My gift. She hates heavy coats. This one is feather-light. Pale brown, like milky tea. Looks lovely with her silver hair. Hood comes off, so she skipped it for church. Metal zip. Big pull she can actually grip with the arthritis in her fingers. Little shoulder tabs. Stretchy ribbed trim at the hem. She's worn it every day this week. Sent me a selfie in it from the corner bakery. Mission accomplished, honestly.
Watched my girlfriend unwrap this on her birthday and the first thing she did was rub the sleeve against her cheek. The colour is a light, toasty brown, paler than I'd pictured, but she prefers it that way. Its first outing was a walk along the Thames the next afternoon, hood up for the breezy stretch by the river, and she kept it on through dinner. Big hit.
Brilliant little bomber, simple as that. Reasons, quickly: it's light enough to throw on over a work blouse without feeling bulky, the caramel shade goes with nearly everything in my wardrobe, and the metal zip hasn't caught once. The hood comes off when I'm heading somewhere smarter. There's zero break-in either; comfortable from the first wear. Slight tangent, but the courier left it with my neighbour, who held it hostage for two days because she was away at her caravan, so I had to wait to try it on. Anyway. I wear it on the school run, to the office on dress-down Fridays and on dog walks along the canal, and it's coped with all of it. Spots of mud brushed off once dry.
This is the first jacket like this I've ever owned and I kept putting it off because I assumed suede-look anything would be high maintenance and I'd end up babying it, but honestly it's the opposite, I wear it to the farmers market, I wear it to pick my nephew up from soccer, I tossed it on the back seat of the car for a week and it came out fine, the light brown is a gentle toffee color that makes my denim look intentional, the hood comes off or stays on depending on how windy Chicago is being, and the zipper is one of those solid YKK metal ones that just doesn't snag.
Collar first: the hood clips off cleanly, leaving a neat rib-knit neckline that looks tidy under a scarf. Moving down, the epaulettes give my shoulders a bit of definition, which I didn't expect to like as much as I do. The YKK metal zip glides and has a chunky pull I can grab with gloves on. Cuffs and hem are ribbed too, so nothing flaps about on the platform. That tan tone is gorgeous with navy. Only knocked one off because the parcel showed up crumpled and the hood had a crease that took an evening hanging to drop out.
ok so i saw this on an instagram ad and my first thought was theres no way faux suede looks this good irl. ad photos lie right? not this time. the color is a soft camel, kinda like latte foam, and the nap has that velvety look up close. YKK zip feels sturdy. ive worn it 3x this week with white sneakers and leggings and got stopped once at target lol
Our daughter had been living in a tired corduroy thing since sixth form, the one with frayed cuffs and a broken popper, so this was my present to her. Honestly I was glad to see it go. This replacement is lighter, the colour is a gentle tan rather than that muddy olive, and the removable hood means she can actually wear it in the rain we've had all week (Manchester, never stops). She says it feels grown-up without being stuffy.
Nice jacket and I've worn it most days since it arrived. Four stars because the shoulder epaulettes are a stronger detail in person than they looked online, though I've come round to them. Everything else is well made, the hood detaches easily and the pockets are usable.
Spring layering is usually a nuisance because you end up carrying whatever you took off, and this solves that. Enough for a cold morning, never too much by the afternoon. The hood pulls off when I want a cleaner look for work. Light brown is soft and neutral so it goes over everything.
Ordered on Monday and it turned up beautifully packed. The shade is a lovely warm light brown that works with grey and cream. The metallic zip feels substantial and the rib trims hold their shape. It's light without feeling thin, which is the balance I wanted.
Delivery took nine days, which had me sweating because it was meant for my wife's birthday and landed the morning before. That's the only complaint. Once she pulled it out of the bag, the worry went. The light brown is a warm biscuit shade that suits her colouring far better than the darker browns she usually picks. She wore it to Sunday lunch at her parents' with a cream jumper and her mum asked where it was from before we'd even sat down. The rib-knit trim keeps wind off her wrists, and she's taken the hood off for evenings out.
Edinburgh became my sister's home in September, and I sent this as a housewarming present, partly because her last coat was a padded thing she hated. The real test came on a day trip we did together to North Berwick a couple of weeks later. Bright morning, howling wind by noon, a short shower on the beach. She had the hood up and drawn tight, the ribbed cuffs kept gusts out of her sleeves, and the metal zip didn't budge once she'd done it up to the chin. Afterwards in the café it had a few damp spots that faded within the hour. The colour is a pale, almost oatmeal brown which looked gorgeous against the grey sea. Four rather than five because the drawstrings are a bit short when the hood is fully cinched.
